History
MAP International was established in 1965 as a spinoff from the Christian Medical Society, with roots tracing to 1954, when Ray Knighton began distributing donated medicines after receiving 11 tons of medicine from a pharmaceutical company and distributing it within three months. The organization has since grown into a major global health distributor, operating an 83,000-square-foot distribution center in Brunswick, Georgia, whose capacity was expanded in 2023.
Scale and impact
MAP International reports serving 86 countries. In 2022 the organization delivered medicines valued at $745,372,921, distributed over 16 million prenatal vitamins, and reached over 324,000 children. In 2025, MAP reached $1.3 billion in donated medicine and health supplies.
