  • She Builds: critical repairs for women-headed households and women-focused community spaces
  • Community Revitalization Partnerships: local affiliates align with community development goals established by residents and other stakeholders and work toward a coordinated approach to support the community's aspirations

History

The organization traces its roots to 1973, when a small group of people in Midland, Texas, recognized a growing need in their community and began repairing deteriorating homes that their neighbors could not afford to fix themselves. Realizing the potential impact of this work, the group formed Christmas in April, performing repair and rehabilitation work every April. The national office opened in 1988, and the organization became Rebuilding Together. Today it has grown into a leading national nonprofit repairing the homes of people in need and revitalizing communities through its affiliate network.
