CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is a nonprofit international education and exchange organization headquartered in Portland, Maine. Founded in 1947, CIEE is one of the oldest and largest organizations of its kind in the United States, serving more than 12,000 study abroad students annually, reaching 4,000 U.S. high schools, and facilitating 35,000 international exchange visitors each year.

History
CIEE was founded in 1947 as the Executive Committee on Student Travel, organizing educational exchange in the aftermath of World War II. It was renamed the Council on International Educational Exchange in 1967 and relocated its headquarters from New York to Portland, Maine in 2003. The organization celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2017.
